VIDEO: K. MICHELLE INTERVIEW WITH SHOUT OUT RADIO!

If you missed the live interview with K. Michelle on Shout Out Radio you can check it out below!

Shout Out Radio recently spoke with the talented K.Michelle, who just finished a 15-city tour with J.Cole. Although she considers herself to be new to the music industry, she already has many loyal fans and is working on continuing to build her fan base. K.Michelle has been singing since she was a young girl and luckily had a vocal coach who encouraged her to sing songs that were outside the stereotypical box of songs that others expected her to sing. This allowed her to appreciate different genres of music. You may be surprised to learn that K.Michelle enjoys country music and possesses a hidden talent of yodeling! While attending Florida A&M University, she tried out for Nashville Star (comparable to American Idol, but with a country music focus) and made it to the second round, but was not able to continue the competition due to school conflicts.

She credits R. Kelly for saving her music career and considers him a mentor and good friend. Not one to sugarcoat his opinions, R.Kelly told her that when she first sang to him, he believed what she was singing and he knew success was in her future. After their first meeting, K.Michelle impressed R. Kelly so much that she ended up touring with him as an opener—with nothing but a microphone—for true artists don’t need backup dancers, flashy clothes or anything else to win over a crowd.

K.Michelle views her music as therapy, hence the title of her album “Pain Medicine”, and says she truly loves what she does. Her latest single, “How Many Times” speaks to her personal hardships, and she hopes to help others in similar situations so that they can attempt to heal. She does not create songs to fit the themes in popular radio today, but rather lets her lyrics evoke an honesty and realness that is quite refreshing. Her favorite song to sing live is “Where They Do That At” because her fans relate to it and are touched by the song. In the future, she would like to work with Mary J. Blige, Pink and even Rascal Flatts! [Source]
